Job summary

Stormont Vail Pharmacy LLC is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist in preparing medications for dispensing under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. You will support retail pharmacy operations, verify patient and prescription data, and help resolve payer-related issues.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, Kansas Pharmacy Technician certification, and State Board registration; an Associate's degree is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing medications for dispensing under pharmacist supervision.
  • Verify patient data, drug, quantities, directions, and insurance in systems.
  • Use dispensing and barcoding technology to ensure accurate medication selection and order fulfillment.
  • Provide non-judgmental customer service to patients and healthcare providers in person and by phone.
  • Participate in specialty pharmacy tasks and assist with prior authorizations and payer issues.

Ensures accuracy of prescription and patient data entered into various systems; verifying patient, drug, quantities, directions, days' supply, supplies, insurance, and other data. Reviews all relevant clinical information and clarifies with pharmacist/prescriber as appropriate. Works with payers to resolve insurance related issues, assists with financial assistance programs as needed. checking the work of other technicians when applicable (Tech-Check-Tech).Deliver excellent customer service to healthcare providers and patients, by greeting them in person and by phone, answering non-judgmental questions and requests, manage Epic messages, initiate and complete prior authorizations, and referring inquiriies requiring judgment to a pharmacist.Manipulate and dispense hazardous and non-hazardous medications per department procedure. Apply critical thinking in all situations, seeking guidance from other technicians and pharmacists as required while achieving an appropriate level of independence.Specialty Pharmacy: Ensures accuracy of prescription and patient data entered into various systems; verifying patient, drug, quantities, directions, days’ supply, supplies, insurance, and physician data. Reviews all pertinent medical documentation from physician offices and other healthcare facilities, and clarifies prescription orders with pharmacist and/or clinician as appropriate. Works with payers to resolve insurance related issues, assists patients with financial assistance as needed.Achieve and maintain competency in at least two specialized pharmacy functions, including but not limited to: vaccine administration, pharmacy buying, specialty pharmacy fulfillment, drug diversion management, and REMS programs.
