OrthoNebraska is seeking a Pharmacy Runner to support the pharmacy team in delivering medications and supplies to patients. This part-time role requires cooperation with pharmacists and technicians, with a 0.6 FTE and a Monday–Friday variable schedule in Omaha, Nebraska.

The ideal candidate has basic customer service experience and strong communication skills, along with the ability to handle prescriptions accurately and maintain patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a team member to complete workloads and deliver high‑quality patient care.
  • Deliver prescription medications to patients and collect copays as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all interactions.
  • Communicate patient care issues clearly with pharmacists, technicians, and patients.
  • Assist with clerical tasks to support efficient pharmacy workflow.

The Pharmacy Runner, plays a key role in assisting the pharmacy team by ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of medications and supplies to patients.

Experience: Any previous experience in healthcare or customer service is preferred.

Essential Job Functions
  • Function as a team member by demonstrating initiative and flexibility in the completion of the workload to provide high quality, efficient patient care.
  • Maintains professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel. Safeguards and retains confidentiality of patient and employee information, using only as needed to perform legitimate duties. Safeguards passwords and other authorizations, which allow access to information.
  • Maintains professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel while assuring confidentiality of patient and other hospital information. Complies with all HIPAA procedures.
  • Delivers prescription medications to discharging patients and collects the appropriate copay.
  • Perform clerical and support tasks to ensure efficient workflow in the pharmacy.
  • Support organizational goals, policies and procedures and team decisions.
  • Demonstrate respect for patient rights and ensure confidentiality.
  • Communicate patient care issues appropriately and participate in their resolution.
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures, regulatory requirements such as OSHA and The Joint Commission.
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Physical requirements:

This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 10 to 25 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Must be able to pass background check. We also conduct pre-employment physical and drug testing. Any job offer will be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment physical with a drug screen, background check and obtaining active licensures per job requirements.
