Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, Florida is seeking a dedicated Environmental Monitoring Technician to support the microbiology team. You will collect viable air, surface, and particle samples using aseptic techniques, assist with training, and help maintain safety and documentation across the department.

The role requires 3+ years in aseptic technique or cleanroom operations, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. This on-site position offers full-time hours and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Perform re-sampling and investigative sample collection for sites needing follow-up.
  • Assist with garbing qualifications, onboarding, and training activities.
  • Prepare media and conduct basic testing in support of analysts and QA.
  • Carry out incubation, enumeration, and visual inspection of samples.
  • Update electronic tracking systems and maintain reports and documentation.
  • Manage inventory, restock supplies, and support QA for data integrity.

Job Description:

Under guidance of qualified microbiologists, performs re‑sampling and investigative sample collection for sites requiring follow‑up or remediation. Participates in garbing qualifications and proficiency testing. Assists with onboarding and training activities under supervision. Assists with inspection preparation, document retrieval, and adherence to safety, infection control, and hazardous waste handling policies. Updates electronic tracking systems and archives reports. Ensures data integrity and proper documentation storage. Works closely with microbiology analysts and QA to support environmental monitoring activities, report preparation, and sample coordination. Completes clerical tasks, maintains organized workspaces, and performs other duties as assigned to support department operations. Supports data entry, trending report preparation, and map updates. Submits documentation to analysts and QA for review and approval. Assists with incubation, enumeration, and visual inspection of environmental and personnel samples. Prepares media and performs basic testing in support of analysts and QA. Performs equipment checks, cleaning, and calibration. Manages inventory, restocks supplies, and maintains documentation for sample inspection areas. Other duties as assigned. Collects viable air, particle count, and surface samples across division campuses using aseptic technique. Ensures compliance with USP <797>, <800>, and <1116> standards.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of sample collection as it relates to aseptic processing environments such as sterile compounding cleanrooms or sterile pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. [Required]
  • Personal qualities and interpersonal communication skills to interact and maintain good relationships with a broad spectrum of healthcare disciplines and the public under all circumstances [Required]
  • Functions independently using effective written and verbal communication [Required]
  • Detail oriented with exceptional time management, documentation and teamwork skills [Required]
  • Ability to self‑monitor progress and complete assigned tasks independently [Required]
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet knowledge skills [Required]
  • Familiar with sterile and non‑sterile USP compounding standards [Required]
  • Mature judgment and the ability to handle confidential information within AdventHealth guidelines and applicable regulations. [Required]
  • Ability to meet standards for garbing and hand hygiene competency qualification [Required]
  • Expert ISO/Cleanroom/Environmental Monitoring for Aseptic Processing knowledge [Preferred]
  • Knowledge of USP, GMP (GDP, GLP), and CFR regulations [Preferred]
  • Understanding of cleanroom environments and mechanisms of primary and secondary engineering controls [Preferred]
