AdventHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician in Palm Coast, FL. This full-time role involves selecting materials and packaging for instrument sets, maintaining sterility indicators, and operating sterilization equipment in a fast-paced clinical environment.

You will review sterilization charts, manage records, and ensure proper cleaning and decontamination of instruments. Strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work under deadlines are essential.

Qualifications

• English communication and customer-facing skills required.

Responsibilities

• Selects materials and packaging for sterilization of instrument sets.

• Follows recall processes for sterilization failures and notifies supervisors.
• Communicates with hospital departments to resolve issues.
• Participates in training and rotates through decontamination, tray assembly, and sterilization areas.

Job Description

• Selects appropriate materials and sterilization packaging for each instrument set, ensuring proper wrapping for aseptic technique.
• Ensures sterility indicators and lot stickers are present on all instrument sets and packages.
• Operates complex sterilization equipment, selecting the correct method of sterilization based on manufacturer instructions.
• Reviews and signs all sterilizer recording charts to verify proper sterilization parameters before releasing items for clinical use.
• Monitors sterilizer printouts, maintains records, and documents all requirements in appropriate log books or computer systems.
• Properly identifies and segregates reusable items for decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization, selecting appropriate cleaning methods based on manufacturer instructions.
• Disassembles and inspects items for damage or missing components, ensuring safe operation of all equipment in the decontamination area.
• Accurately assembles instruments, complex instrument sets, and other surgical items, recording information in the computer tracking system or paper instrument count sheet.
• Utilizes the recall process for sterilization failures and notifies supervisors or managers of positive results.
• Communicates effectively with all hospital departments and within the department, using the chain of command to resolve issues.
• Participates in training new employees, attending in-services and department meetings to maintain knowledge base.
• Rotates assignments among various areas within the department, including decontamination, surgical tray assembly, sterilization processes, and equipment management.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability and experience with computer systems [Preferred]

Education

• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Field of Study

• 1+ related experience [Preferred]
