Job summary

Dartmouth Health Hampstead is seeking a Pharmacist in Charge to supervise pharmacists and technicians, ensuring safe and efficient operation of the pharmacy.

The role involves overseeing day-to-day activities, ensuring compliance with state/federal guidelines, maintaining medication inventories, and guiding staff through policy development and clinical decision-making. A NH pharmacist license and ACPE-accredited degree are required.

Qualifications

• 3 years’ experience as a Pharmacist.
• Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of Pharmacy with 3 years of health care system experience (1 must be pharmacy supervisory experience), or the equivalent required.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decisions.
• Effective problem solving and change management abilities.

Responsibilities

• Supervises day-to-day activities of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians
• Act as pharmacist-in-charge in the absence of pharmacy managers
• Pharmacist in Charge: responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring compliance with guidelines, and maintaining medication inventory
• Helps to hire, train and evaluate Pharmacy Department staff
• Schedules staff and ensures appropriate staff coverage
• Assists in the development and administration of departmental policies and procedures
• Interprets and transcribes physician orders to patient medication profiles and maintains profiles
• Ensures safe, cost-effective medication therapies and monitors therapy outcomes
• Provides clinical consultation and cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to medical staff
• Counsels patients/families regarding proper drug administration and discharge medications
• Documents clinical activities and participates in quality improvement activities
• Resolves patient complaints and ensures excellent customer service
