Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician where allowed by law.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision, managing pharmacy technicians and cashiers according to policies, laws, and ethics.
- Manage pharmacy technician personnel, including hiring, scheduling, training, coaching, performance management, and making disciplinary decisions.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers by greeting and assisting, resolving complaints, and providing timely responses to requests to ensure a positive experience. Share customer service best practices.
- Build relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, focusing on healthcare services to enhance customer experience.
Operations
- Assist pharmacists with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and related healthcare services, including immunizations and screenings where law permits.
- Delegate and direct non-clinical work, ensuring tasks are completed timely and efficiently.
- Prepare reports, manage pharmacy workflow, and ensure cleanliness, organization, and stock levels.
- Handle inventory management, recordkeeping, and security in collaboration with the Pharmacy Manager.
- Ensure compliance with Good Faith Dispensing policies and monitor for diversion concerns.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve customer issues, and participate in audits.
- Support financial and operational improvements and coordinate community outreach and off-site clinics.
People & Performance Management
- Lead technician performance management, disciplinary actions, and compliance with laws.
- Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling, ensuring licensure and certification compliance.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB certification and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Seek feedback and leverage mentorship for growth.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team and participate in meetings.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (excluding Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
- Fluent in English; flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
- Previous leadership experience; Walgreens experience with high performance ratings preferred.
