Pharmacy Technician Job Description

As a full-time certified pharmacy technician, you will be responsible for supporting non-clinical pharmacy operations, including administrative activities, to ensure efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Your duties include:

1. Operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with healthcare services under pharmacist supervision.
2. Leading the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, including training, coaching, and performance management.
3. Engaging with customers and patients to provide assistance, resolve complaints, and enhance their experience by anticipating needs and promoting healthcare services.
4. Assisting in the delivery of patient care activities such as prescription data entry, medication preparation, patient and physician communication, and health screenings.
5. Managing pharmacy workflow, ensuring cleanliness and supplies, and overseeing inventory management and recordkeeping.
6. Driving technology and process improvements, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and maintaining security safeguards.
7. Supporting financial and operational analysis, community outreach, and off-site immunization clinics.
8. Leading performance management, hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of pharmacy technicians, and ensuring licensure and certification compliance.
9. Maintaining professional development through certifications and ongoing education, and effective communication within the pharmacy team.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
