Pharmacy Technician Job Description
As a full-time certified pharmacy technician, you will be responsible for supporting non-clinical pharmacy operations, including administrative activities, to ensure efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Your duties include:
- Operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with healthcare services under pharmacist supervision.
- Leading the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Engaging with customers and patients to provide assistance, resolve complaints, and enhance their experience by anticipating needs and promoting healthcare services.
- Assisting in the delivery of patient care activities such as prescription data entry, medication preparation, patient and physician communication, and health screenings.
- Managing pharmacy workflow, ensuring cleanliness and supplies, and overseeing inventory management and recordkeeping.
- Driving technology and process improvements, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and maintaining security safeguards.
- Supporting financial and operational analysis, community outreach, and off-site immunization clinics.
- Leading performance management, hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of pharmacy technicians, and ensuring licensure and certification compliance.
- Maintaining professional development through certifications and ongoing education, and effective communication within the pharmacy team.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
