Job Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with healthcare services under pharmacist supervision, including administering vaccines and health screenings where permitted by law.
- Lead the selection, scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians, including making decisions on discipline and termination.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients, resolve complaints, respond to requests, and answer non-clinical questions to enhance the customer experience. Share best practices in customer service.
- Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, focusing on healthcare services to improve the overall experience.
Operations
- Assist pharmacists in delivering patient care, including registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and patient communication, under supervision and where legally permitted.
- Exercise independent judgment within authorized guidelines to delegate non-clinical tasks, ensure timely completion, and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Prepare reports, manage pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily activities, and ensure the pharmacy is well-stocked and maintained.
- Manage inventory and administrative activities, including recordkeeping, security, and compliance, under pharmacist direction.
- Ensure adherence to Good Faith Dispensing policies and support asset protection measures, reporting concerns to management.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve issues, and participate in audits to ensure compliance and financial health.
- Support community outreach, coordinate off-site immunization clinics, and build retail partnerships.
People & Performance Management
- Lead technician performance management, including disciplinary actions, hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Identify training gaps, support professional development, and ensure all licensures and certifications are maintained and compliant.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB certification and pursue ongoing education and training to stay current in pharmacy and healthcare fields.
- Engage in performance improvement activities, seek feedback, and leverage mentorship opportunities.
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with the pharmacy team and participate in store meetings and check-ins.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (excluding Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in retail or hospital settings.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (excluding Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
