Job summary

The Indian Health Service (IHS) Pine Ridge Service Unit seeks a Supervisory Pharmacist to lead ambulatory and hospital pharmacy operations. The role provides oversight and strategic direction for clinical care, staffing, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance to fulfill the IHS mission.

The position emphasizes patient safety, risk reduction, audits, and collaboration with physicians, nurses, and other staff to optimize pharmacotherapy and resolve drug-related problems.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist license in good standing.
• Experience in hospital/ambulatory pharmacy operations.
• Ability to coordinate audits and risk reduction strategies.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day operations of the pharmacy program and oversees staffing, scheduling, policy implementation, and compliance.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and maintains documentation, coordinates audits, and ensures patient safety through risk reduction strategies.
• Manages performance appraisals, develops individual development plans, and provides coaching and training for a diverse staff of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
• Serves as medication subject matter expert with physicians, nurses, and other staff on drug-related problems; monitor adverse drug reactions, review and evaluate drug literature.
• Participates in medication reconciliation processes, interdisciplinary team rounds, and collaborative treatment planning.
