Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System has an opening for a full-time Medication Safety Officer in Pharmacy Service. This leadership role manages medication safety, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance across the system, working with Pharmacy, Nursing, Quality/Safety, and leadership.

The Pharmacist will coordinate policy development, review adverse drug events, and lead process-improvement initiatives. A Pharm.D.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional pharmacy practices.
• Creditable experience in medication safety or quality improvement.
• Leadership and communication abilities for cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Co-Chairs the Medication Safety Committee and prepares agendas.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with VHA, DEA, Joint Commission, USP, EPA, etc.
• Develops and revises medication safety policies for the Health Care System.
• Precepts residents and pharmacy students on leadership rotations.
• Collaborates with Pharmacy leadership to implement improvement actions.
