Job summary

As a faith based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we serve approximately 60,000 patients each year across our Memphis health centers, offering primary care, dental, behavioral health, pharmacy, and specialty services.

About the Role

Christ Community Health Services is seeking an experienced, patient-focused Pharmacy Manager to lead the daily operations of our Pharmacy Department.

Reporting to the Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Manager is a working supervisor who provides professional pharmacy services while overseeing pharmacy staff, prescription processing, regulatory compliance, inventory, financial records, and patient service.

This position directly supervises approximately three to four Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Cashiers.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide professional pharmacy services to CCHS patients while supervising daily pharmacy operations.
  • Dispense prescriptions accurately and safely in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Delegate prescription-filling and administrative responsibilities to pharmacy staff and verify the accuracy and completion of assigned work.
  • Supervise, train, coach, and evaluate Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Cashiers.
  • Counsel patients regarding medications, dosage instructions, potential side effects, drug interactions, and appropriate medication use.
  • Answer patients’ medication-related questions and provide appropriate health information.
  • Maintain accurate, computerized, and confidential patient medication records.
  • Review patient drug therapies to identify and prevent harmful interactions, contraindications, duplications, and other medication-related concerns.
  • Collaborate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and prevent medication errors.
  • Serve as a liaison among patients, prescribers, and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Oversee pharmacy cash-handling procedures and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain and report pharmacy staff payroll information.
  • Monitor medication and supply inventory and place orders as appropriate.
  • Ensure medications and pharmacy supplies are stored, secured, and maintained properly.
  • Ensure pharmacy operations comply with applicable federal and Tennessee laws, regulations, licensing requirements, and CCHS policies.
  • Promote efficient workflows, strong customer service, and a safe pharmacy environment.
  • Address operational concerns and elevate significant issues to the Pharmacy Director.
  • Participate in pharmacy meetings, organizational initiatives, and quality-improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Active and unrestricted Tennessee pharmacist license.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • At least three years of experience working in a community or retail pharmacy.
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians, cashiers, or other pharmacy personnel.
  • Strong knowledge of medication dispensing, patient counseling, inventory management, and pharmacy regulations.
  • Experience maintaining confidential patient records and using pharmacy information systems.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to medication safety.
  • Ability to manage clinical responsibilities while overseeing pharmacy operations and staff performance.
  • Experience working in an FQHC, community health center, or healthcare organization is preferred.

This position operates in an indoor pharmacy environment with regular patient and staff interaction. The Pharmacy Manager may be exposed to germs, infections, or contagious illnesses through patient contact.

The role requires standing for approximately 80% of the workday, walking for approximately 15%, and sitting for approximately 5%. The employee may be required to lift, push, or pull medication order totes and pharmacy supplies weighing approximately 10 to 20 pounds.

The position involves frequent computer use and may include exposure to repetitive motion, eye strain, and other conditions associated with computer-based work. Travel outside the assigned work location is not typically required.
