Job summary

AQUARIUS is seeking a Pharmacy Manager of Hematology/Oncology to lead the oncology pharmacy team at a Medical Center. You will drive strategic goals, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee daily operations to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.

The role requires a PharmD or Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, plus PGY-1 residency and optionally PGY-2/HSPAL residency or equivalent experience. Massachusetts licensure by hire date is required.

Qualifications

  • Must have a degree in Pharmacy (Bachelor’s or PharmD).
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Pharmacy Specialty or HSPAL Residency or
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and 2 years of pertinent experience or
  • 4 years of pertinent experience
  • Work requires licensure as a pharmacist in Massachusetts by the hire date.
  • Experience in Hematology / Oncology with an Advance Degree and/or residency with leadership experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the oncology pharmacy team at the Medical Center.
  • Develop strategies to improve patient care and department goals.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and policies.
  • Collaborate with hospital leaders to develop strategic goals and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations and maintain policy adherence.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs for safe, efficient pharmacy services.
  • Oversee medication management processes to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Assist with project management, stakeholder engagement, and presenting findings to leadership.
  • Supervise pharmacy staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Manage HR functions including recruitment, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Engage in department initiatives, budget development, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support financial forecasting and value assessments.
  • Collaborate with hematology and oncology teams to implement clinical programs.
  • Lead staff training programs for pharmacy personnel and residents.
  • Lead quality assurance and process improvement projects.

What you will be doing as the Pharmacy Manager- Hematology/Oncology:
  • Responsible for leading, supporting, and managing the oncology pharmacy team at the Medical Center.
  • Responsible for the development of strategies and initiatives for the department to improve patient care and satisfaction along with development of department-wide goal setting.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, departmental policies and procedures, mission and value statements, and hospital core beliefs, while maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety, and managing pharmacy staff.
  • Collaborate with hospital leaders within and outside of pharmacy, develops strategic goals, and promotes a healthy and efficient work environment.
  • Manage daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that support safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services.
  • Oversee medication management processes including procurement, preparation, storage, and distribution to ensure accuracy and safety in all settings.
  • Assist with project management, including planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and presenting findings to senior leadership.
  • Supervise and provide leadership to pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy liaisons and support personnel, to maintain high standards of service and safety.
  • Manage human resource functions, including recruitment, performance evaluations, staff development, training, orientation, scheduling, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Create and maintain a healthy work environment where staff feel supported, accountable, and engaged in organizational initiatives. Essential duties include:
  • Being engaged in the department, including managing up, owning team decisions, and supporting departmental and organizational initiatives.
  • Participate in budget development and financial management, including identifying cost‑saving opportunities and managing drug budgets effectively.
  • Support financial processes such as forecasting needs, conducting financial assessments of value.
  • Collaborate with hematology and oncology clinical teams to develop and implement clinical programs that enhance patient care and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
  • Develop and implement training programs for pharmacy staff, the PGY2 oncology pharmacy resident, and students, to ensure clinical and operational competency and foster professional development and continuous learning.
  • Lead quality assurance initiatives and process improvement projects to enhance efficiency and safety within the pharmacy department and support departmental goals.
What you will need as the Pharmacy Manager- Hematology/Oncology:
  • Must have completed a degree in Pharmacy (Bachelor’s or PharmD)
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Pharmacy Specialty or HSPAL Residency or
  • PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and 2 years of pertinent experience or
  • 4 years of pertinent experience
  • Work requires licensure as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the hire date.
  • Experience in Hematology / Oncology with an Advance Degree (Master’s, MBA) and/or completion of an accredited residency with some leadership experience highly preferred.
