The BH Pharmacy Manager of Oncology/Hematology is responsible for leading, supporting, and managing the oncology pharmacy team in the development of strategies and initiatives to improve patient care, satisfaction, and system-wide goal value setting. The manager ensures compliance with departmental, local, state, and federal regulatory standards, policies, and procedures, mission and core value statements. The manager collaborates with healthcare providers and other key stakeholders to meet patient care needs.

• Participate in and lead the design, implementation, and management of a safe, high-quality medication-use system.
• Supervise and provide leadership to pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy liaisons, and support personnel to maintain high standards of service and safety.
• Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that support safe, efficient, and high-quality pharmacy services.
• Embrace the BH Daily Management system to improve patient safety and promote medication event reporting.
• Oversee medication management processes including procurement, preparation, storage, and distribution to ensure accuracy and safety in all settings.
• Collaborate with cancer clinical teams and actively participate in cancer therapeutics.
• Manage human resource functions, including recruitment, performance evaluations, staff development, training, orientation, scheduling, and disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Create and maintain a healthy work environment where staff feel supported, accountable, and engaged in organizational initiatives.
• Engage in department activities, including managing up, owning team decisions, and supporting departmental and organizational initiatives.
• Maintain high ethical standards and act with integrity.
• Regularly schedule meetings with direct reports.
• Effective human resource management, including disciplining, recognizing, conducting performance evaluations, and guiding professional development.
• Act as a liaison to and communicate regularly with interdisciplinary leadership teams.
• Stay current with trends and developments in pharmacy practice and healthcare.
• Assist with project management, including planning, execution, stakeholder engagement, and presenting findings to senior leadership.
• Oversee high-cost drug utilization for ambulatory areas, including oncology/hematology and other high-cost specialty drugs.
• Provide on-call support as required, maintaining readiness to address urgent operational and clinical needs.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and support audits and regulatory inspections as needed.

Quality

• Oversee the entire medication-use process, from procurement to administration, to ensure the right medications reach the right patients at the right time.
• Utilize interdisciplinary strategies to improve medication-related outcomes, and ensure compliance with evidence-based prescribing criteria and formulary management.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and maintain policies, guidelines, and formulary options for state-of-the-art clinical care.
• Ensure continued compliance with national, state, and local regulations (DEA, CMS including 340b where applicable, Joint Commission, Board of Pharmacy).
• Leverage technology and pharmacy automation systems to enhance dispensing and preparation workflows and drive process improvements.
• Monitor and report on quality metrics and improvement initiatives to key stakeholders.

• Must possess self-management skills with minimal supervision; self-motivated with a strong work ethic and ability to identify issues or opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with the pharmacy team to attract and recruit top talent, promote diversity, and support workforce planning and career development.
• Provide pharmacy support to BH Research partners as needed.
• Ensure team members are adequately trained and meet accrediting body requirements or job needs.
• Optimize residency and student involvement to create a pipeline for the workforce.
• Support education and training for pharmacy staff, healthcare providers, and patients.
• Supervise and mentor pharmacy team members, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

• Evaluate current services and procedures to improve them through data gathering and evaluative research; experience with information systems implementation is preferred.

Required Education/Experience

• Advanced Degree (Master’s, MBA), Doctor of Pharmacy, and/or completion of an accredited residency
• PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Pharmacy Specialty or HSPAL Residency
• PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and 2 years of pertinent experience, or
• Minimum four (4) years of pertinent pharmacy experience
• Minimum three (3) years of leadership/supervisory experience

Preferred Experience

• Oncology/Infusion Experience

Licensure

• Licensure as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the hire date.

Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. Actual salaries may vary by position and will be determined based on the candidate\'s relevant experience. No employee will be paid below the minimum of the range. Pay ranges are listed as hourly for non-exempt employees and based on assumed full-time commitment for exempt employees.
