TITLE: PHARMACY LIAISON
Department : HCAP
FLSA Status: NON-Exempt
Reports to: HCAP ASSISTANT MANAGER
Effective Date: 05/05/2025
Summary
The Pharmacy Liaison facilitates communication between the prescriber, pharmacy, and patient, and help people obtain and properly use prescribed medication. Responsibilities of this role include identifying and resolving issues related to prescription access to optimize client outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following
- Guide and educate clients on their prescription benefits, utilization of plan, formulary and in-network pharmacies.
- Efficiently and courteously, respond to all telephone and written inquiries from all clients, providers, pharmacies and community on issues related to benefit, eligibility and prescription status.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers for prescription clarification.
- Review and analyze prescription claims, determine applicable issues, and provide timely resolution.
- Resolve eligibility processing issues with internal eligibility department and PBM.
- Serve as liaison to Patient Assistance Programs by helping clients identify and apply to appropriate programs as needed.
- Document all communication with clients in HCAP software systems and maintain client records.
- Monitor medical supply inventory by tracking current stock to determine inventory level, anticipating supply needs, placing order and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of PBM and application for RX claims submission and eligibility submission.
- Utilize medication resources such as Medscape/Medispan to enhance knowledge of formulary applications, pharmacy & therapeutic (P&T) committee functions, generic/brand drug equivalency.
- Perform other administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED with two years of pharmacy related work experience OR
- Pharmacy Technician or other licensed health care professional with recent work experience in a health care setting.
SKILLS And KNOWLEDGE
- Moderate word processing database and spreadsheet skills required.
- Basic Email and Internet skills required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently
- Basic knowledge of medications
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Current Texas Driver's License.
- Remain insurable by the current insurance vendor of MCHD.
