Job summary

Indiana University Health in Plainfield, IN, is seeking a Pharmacy Inventory Control Expert to join our pharmacy supply chain team. This onsite role supports hospitals, clinics, and care sites by maintaining inventory accuracy, optimizing product availability, and resolving supply challenges.

The ideal candidate is an experienced pharmacy technician with strong organizational skills, proficiency with pharmacy systems and Microsoft Office, and a commitment to compliance and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant pharmacy technician, inventory management, or pharmacy supply chain experience required.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency as a pharmacy technician with the ability to work effectively within established procedures under limited supervision.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and keyboarding skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with medications and pharmaceutical products.

Responsibilities

• Ensure continuous flow and availability of pharmaceutical products and supplies throughout the health system.
• Perform and oversee inventory control activities including product ordering, receiving, cycle counts, returns, recalls, and inventory reconciliation.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, backorders, invoice issues, and contract pricing variances.
• Support evaluation and selection of new pharmaceutical products and supplies in collaboration with leadership.
• Maintain accurate formulary records, product databases, and barcode associations.
• Monitor and manage controlled substance inventory records in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Utilize pharmacy systems and technology to maintain inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors, pharmacy teams, and internal stakeholders to address inventory needs and supply chain challenges.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and proactively solve inventory-related issues.
