Job summary

IU Health in Plainfield, Indiana, is seeking a Pharmacy Inventory Control Expert to join our pharmacy supply chain team. This on-site role supports hospitals, retail pharmacies, ambulatory clinics, and surgery centers by maintaining inventory accuracy, managing ordering, cycle counts, returns, and pricing variances.

The ideal candidate is an experienced pharmacy technician who is self-motivated, highly organized, tech-savvy, and capable of solving inventory challenges in a fast-paced healthcare

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active Indiana Pharmacy Technician License required.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB or ExCPT) required.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant pharmacy technician, inventory management, or pharmacy supply chain experience.
• Demonstrated advanced proficiency as a pharmacy technician with the ability to work effectively within established procedures under limited supervision.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and keyboarding skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with medications and pharmaceutical products.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the continuous flow and availability of pharmaceutical products and supplies throughout the health system.
• Perform and oversee inventory control activities including product ordering, receiving, cycle counts, returns, recalls, and inventory reconciliation.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, backorders, invoice issues, and contract pricing variances.
• Support the evaluation and selection of new pharmaceutical products and supplies in collaboration with leadership.
• Maintain accurate formulary records, product databases, and barcode associations.
• Monitor and manage controlled substance inventory records in compliance with organizational policies and state and federal regulations.
• Utilize pharmacy systems and technology to maintain inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors, pharmacy teams, and internal stakeholders to address inventory needs and supply chain challenges.
• Identify process improvement opportunities and proactively solve inventory-related issues before they impact patient care.

Join IU Health’s pharmacy supply chain team and play a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted access to medications and pharmaceutical supplies across one of Indiana’s largest healthcare systems. As a Pharmacy Inventory Control Expert, you will serve as a key resource in managing inventory operations that support hospitals, retail pharmacies, ambulatory clinics, surgery centers, and other patient care areas throughout the organization.
