Job summary

Newton-Wellesley Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Intern Year 2 to support the Pharmacy Department in ensuring the correct medication is provided safely and promptly under Pharmacist supervision. You will gain hands-on experience with drug distribution, order entry, compounding, dispensing, and drug information sharing.

The role requires pursuing a Pharmacist degree, with Massachusetts license as an intern preferred.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required. All applicants must be pursuing a Pharmacist degree.

Licenses and Credentials: Pharmacist Intern Massachusetts License required
Experience: Pharmacy Experience 1-2 years preferred

Responsibilities

Supports the mission of the Pharmacy Department by ensuring the right patient receives the right medication under direct supervision of a Pharmacist.
Develops understanding of the drug distribution system and delivers medications to patient care areas.
Uses computer software and gains experience in interpretation, verification, order entry, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals.
May disseminate drug information.
Collaborates with the treatment team to maximize patient outcomes and counsels patients on medications and devices.
Monitors therapies by reviewing profiles and lab values to ensure guideline-conformant regimens.
Assists Pharmacist in gathering information to advise nurses, doctors, and patients on proper use of medications.
