Job summary

The Guthrie Clinic in Corning, NY is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to assist in medication preparation and delivery under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role includes IV admixture, rounding with the ICU clinical pharmacist, and participation in medication reconciliation and patient education sessions.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and be enrolled in a College of Pharmacy, eligible for NYS Pharmacy Intern Permit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; enrollment in College of Pharmacy; eligible for NYS Pharmacy Intern Permit.
• No prior hospital pharmacy experience required.
• Must be supervised by a licensed pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Unit dose cart filling from daily report and updates.
• Stocking medications from wholesaler in appropriate areas in pharmacy.
• Restocking ADC cabinets on Nursing Units twice daily.
• IV admixture preparation.
• Rounding on ICU patients with Clinical Pharmacist.
• Providing medication reconciliation under supervision of clinical pharmacist.
• Provision of medication education in one on one or group settings.
• Adding Adverse drug reactions to reporting system.
• Preparing new drug writeups for Pharmacy & Therapeutics committee.

Position Summary: Responsible for assisting in the preparation and delivery of medications for patients within the hospital. Assisting in the compounding and mixing of IV medications once completion of Simplifi 797 education series on compounding IV preparations and passing all gloved fingertip testing and media fill testing. Will be able to round with Clinical Pharmacist on ICU patients and will participate in Medication reconciliation process and direct patient education with pharmacist for group education settings and one on one education sessions with patients. Must be supervised by a licensed pharmacist.

Education, License & Cert:

High School Diploma.Enrollment in a College of Pharmacy and eligible for NYS Pharmacy Intern PermitLicenses:New York State Pharmacy Intern Permit

Experience:

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.82/hr
