Guthrie Clinic in Vestal, NY is seeking a Pharmacy Intern who will work under supervision of a registered pharmacist to support clinical operations, dosage calculations, and patient care activities in accordance with state regulations.

Candidates must be enrolled in ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy and hold NY intern license; prior institutional pharmacy experience preferred. The role includes IV compounding and drug distribution duties to support safe, effective patient care.

Formación

• Completed at least 2 years of General Education Requirements and enrolled in an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Current NY State Pharmacy Intern License in good standing is required.
• Prior institutional pharmacy experience is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Process orders and support accurate dispensing workflows.
• Conduct clinical evaluations and assist with patient care activities.
• Manage inventory controls and ensure medication availability.
• Provide accurate drug information to patients and staff.
• Distribute medications per protocol and safety standards.
• Perform IV compounding where required.
• When needed, assist as a pharmacy technician or inventory control clerk.

Position Summary

Pharmacy Interns perform the professional functions associated with the practice of Pharmacy. Interns work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist in accordance with the rules and regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy.

Education, License & Certification

Candidates must have completed at least 2 years of General Education Requirements and be enrolled in an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy. Candidates with lesser experience but are focused on pursuing a career in pharmacy will be considered if open positions allow. Current NY State Pharmacy Intern License in good standing required.

Experience

Prior experience in institutional pharmacy is preferred.

Competencies

The pharmacy intern must demonstrate growth and development of knowledge required to access data reflective of the patient’s status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements and to provide the pharmaceutical care needed, appropriate to the age of the patient and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. The intern must demonstrate competency in the nuances between acute and ambulatory/home infusion patients.

Compliance

Pharmacy staff is responsible for ensuring that all departmental and institutional aspects of regulatory compliance are adhered to. The employee must comply with all federal and state standards, with an emphasis on preventing fraud and abuse.

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $22.82/hr
