Job summary

Giant Eagle in Kansas is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to support safe, accurate and efficient dispensing while building relationships with patients and supporting the pharmacy team. You will complete tasks such as inventory management, prescription processing, and customer service with emphasis on professional patient care during ongoing professional education.

Expect 0–6 months experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and enrollment in an ACPE-accredited program, with an in-state intern

Qualifications

• 0–6 months experience preferred
• Active in-state Pharmacy Intern License
• Enrollment in ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program

Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory by submitting online orders and adjusting order points and quantities.
• Keep a neat work environment in line with company and government requirements.
• File written prescriptions daily.
• Assist team members to ensure efficient department operations.
• Review service metrics and support action plans to improve outcomes.
• Perform regular duties of a Pharmacy Technician.
• Greet patients at pharmacy entry points with compassion and a smile.
• Support patient care by directing questions to the pharmacist and processing orders in person and by phone.
• Finalize sales according to POS procedures.
• Assist in safe and efficient dispensing of medications and DME per QA policies.
• Comply with Giant Eagle and Pharmacy policies including HIPAA and pseudoephedrine regulations.
• Enter patient data and insurance information.
• Enter all prescription details including calculations and dosing directions.
• Document transmissions to insurance and review profiles for billing choices.
• Notify pharmacists for drug utilization reviews and manage third-party rejections.
• Process medical expense reports.
• Support execution of company initiatives and programs.

Education

High school degree or equivalent

Enrollment in ACPE-accredited pharmacy degree program
