Job summary

Avita Health System seeks a Pharmacy Intern for casual/PRN roles in outpatient/retail locations in Ontario and Crestline, Ohio. Under supervision of a licensed pharmacist, you will interpret prescriptions, provide drug information, review patient profiles for interactions, and assist with dispensing medications.

This position offers flexible scheduling during summer and holidays, with opportunities to work weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern in good standing with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders under supervision.
• Acts as a drug information resource to patients and staff.
• Reviews patient profiles for drug interactions and contraindications.
• Performs clinical interventions including dosage recommendations.
• Administers immunizations where applicable.
• Performs packaging, control, distribution, and billing of medications under supervision.
• Prepares and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals.

Job description

Under supervision of a licensed pharmacist and in compliance with state and federal laws and established procedures and accreditation standards, a pharmacy intern interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders, acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel, reviews patient profiles for drug interactions, performs clinical interventions including dosage recommendations, administers immunizations, performs technical and clerical functions associated with the ordering, packaging, control, distribution, and billing of medications, performs quality assurance functions, and prepares and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care. Works under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

This role will be a casual/PRN position in our outpatient/retail pharmacy locations in Ontario and Crestline, Ohio. Interns are eligible to work full or part time during summer and holiday breaks, as well as intermittent weekend days throughout the year.

Job Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an accredited pharmacy program at a college or university.
• Licensed as a Pharmacy Intern in good standing with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
