Job summary

Price Chopper is seeking a Pharmacy Grad Intern in the Capital District/NY markets to gain practical experience under a licensed pharmacist. You will assist with prescriptions, immunization counseling, inventory management, and customer service while upholding confidentiality and regulatory standards.

You will help with prescription intake, counseling patients, and supporting immunization programs under supervision, with emphasis on accuracy and professional communication.

Qualifications

• Must successfully complete first professional year of pharmacy study.
• Preferable to have been a pharmacy teammate for minimum of 6 months.
• State licensed pharmacy intern permit where applicable.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office applications required.

Responsibilities

• Complies with all state/federal regulations related to the practice of pharmacy.
• Complies with all company policies/procedures.
• Counsels patients in the use of medications, confidentially.
• Receives new prescriptions via phone; interprets written prescriptions from prescribers.
• Obtains information for new prescriptions including name, address, date of birth, insurance, allergies, phone.
• Processes prescriptions accurately including entering details, dispensing, partial fills, ordering.
• Assists in determining third party plan eligibility.
• Performs appropriate procedures when the medication is not picked up.
• Ensures all medications are dispensed at POS to the correct patient, checking DOB.
• Responds to questions about medications, OTCs, and supplements after consulting the pharmacist.
• Stays up to date on ACIP immunization recommendations and state laws.
• If approved, administers immunizations under supervision/consent of licensed Pharmacist.
• Assists with immunization counseling, paperwork, and documentation including provider communication.
