Broadlawns Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Student Intern to assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications for patients within the Outpatient Pharmacy.

This role requires enrollment in an accredited pharmacy college and current Pharmacist-Intern licensure. Successful candidates must possess effective communication skills and a flexible schedule.

Additional hours may be available for those willing to train in Inpatient Pharmacy.

Job description

Pharmacy Student Intern

The Pharmacy Student Intern assists with the preparation and dispensing of medications for patients served by the Broadlawns Medical Center Outpatient Pharmacy. All duties are performed under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.

Schedule

Flexible – Intern Outpatient Pharmacy

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 8:00pm, Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm. Interns are primarily requested to work Saturdays on a rotating schedule. Availability of hours Monday‑Friday is variable and depends on the needs of the pharmacy department. Additional hours may be available to interns who are able to work or are willing to train in the Inpatient Pharmacy.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in an accredited college of pharmacy during the school year.
• Current registration and licensure as a Pharmacist‑Intern with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
• Successful completion of the college year preceding the level of the position held.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to work part‑time during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during summer vacation.
• Effective communication skills with patients, coworkers, and vendor partners.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, including generic and brand name pharmaceuticals.
