The Region Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education and leads the Galveston/Houston region, overseeing APPE sites and preceptors, coordinating schedules, ensuring site quality, and serving as a liaison

Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. degree from ACPE-accredited school.
  • Licensed to practice pharmacy in Texas.
  • At least 3 years of pharmacy practice experience.
  • Completion of PGY-1 residency preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Introductory and Advanced region activities for Galveston/Houston region.
  • Support region sites and preceptors with questions or concerns.
  • Manage APPE preceptor and student schedule changes.
  • Oversee region site and preceptor quality assurance and reporting to Austin.
  • Recruit and retain regional sites and preceptors to ensure ample site availability.
  • Serve as liaison between experiential office and sites/preceptors.
  • Educate region preceptors.
  • Participate in other duties as assigned.

The College of Pharmacy at The University of Texas at Austin is seeking distinguished applicants to fill open Experiential Education Regional Director positions. Average weekly time commitment generally requires less than 5 hours per week.

Pharmacy Experiential Programs

Experiential Education is a required component of the professional doctorate of pharmacy (Pharm.D.) curriculum and provides students with experiences in the field under the guidance of preceptor faculty. The experiences culminate with the advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPE) occurring in the fourth and final year of the curriculum. More information is available online.

Region Directors

The Region Director reports to the Assistant Dean for Experiential Education and is designated as the leader of the Galveston/Houston (GHO) region.

  • Managing Introductory (as needed) and advanced regional pharmacy students
  • Supporting Region sites and preceptors questions or concerns
  • Managing APPE preceptor and student schedule changes, as assigned
  • Overseeing and tracking region site and precepotr quality assurance (may involve site visits, meetings with preceptors at sites) and reporting information to experiential office in Austin.
  • Recruitment and retention of introductory and advanced region sites and preceptors.
  • Ensuring ample site availability for the region
  • Serving as a communications liaison between experiential office and sites/preceptors in a bidirectional manner
  • Educating region preceptors
  • Participate in other duties as assigned
Positions Currently Open

Qualifications
  • earned Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy;
  • be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas;
  • at least 3 years of pharmacy practice experience; and
  • effective communication skills.

Completion of a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency is preferred.
