Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Pharmacy Clerk in Fort Madison, IA to support day-to-day operations in the pharmacy. You will assist customers, stock supplies, handle cash transactions, and help keep the pharmacy running smoothly and looking its best.

The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and teamwork, with vaccines administered where permitted by law and at the appropriate certification level. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least some related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
• Over six months up to one year of similar or related experience preferred.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile, learning their names, and making every interaction a positive one.
• Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call, including taking refill orders.
• Gather patient information required to prepare prescriptions.
• Stock received product and supplies and mark stickers accordingly, and keep pharmacy supplies well stocked.
• Review prescriptions that have not been picked up as requested by the department manager.
• Order product and supplies at the department manager's request and review invoices on product received.
• Log invoices as necessary and complete cash transactions accurately.
• Prepare paperwork and compile medicine for delivery orders and mail-outs at the request of the department manager.
• Coordinate nursing home medicines as necessary.
• Administer vaccines as allowed by law, with required certification where applicable.
• Clean the pharmacy, empty garbage, and remove trash in a timely manner to ensure a clean and inviting appearance.
• Maintain the confidentiality of customers' private medical information at all times.
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
• Report to work when scheduled and on time.
