Job description

The mission of all Tops associates is to adhere to the Tops vision of providing a friendly neighborhood store that saves the customer time and money. The Pharmacy Clerk is responsible for providing attentive and courteous customer service, receiving written prescriptions, and assisting customers with questions. The Pharmacy Clerk also handles ordering, checking orders from suppliers, stocking shelves in the pharmacy, and performing general housekeeping tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations, as well as company policies, regarding pharmacy operations, safety, and sanitation.
2. Retrieve medications from shelves, count or pour medications, label containers, and price prescriptions. The pharmacist MUST always perform a final check on ALL prescriptions before they are placed in a bag.
3. Adhere to company policies through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of prescriptions.
4. Enter customer data into the computer, keep accurate records, and complete all necessary paperwork related to the pharmacy.
5. Follow directions from the pharmacist on duty and pharmacy manager; the pharmacist must be present when the clerk is in the pharmacy.
6. Maintain security of all controlled substances.
7. Maintain adequate supplies, stock pharmacy shelves, place orders, and check in orders received from suppliers.
8. Perform general housekeeping duties.
9. Process orders, including filling prescriptions and accepting payments.
10. Minimize shrink through proper handling and storing of products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 16 years old; certain functions/tasks may require being 18 years old.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

1. Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
2. Possess basic computer skills.
3. Possess strong communication skills.
