Job summary

Southeast Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Inc. is seeking a Pharmacy Cashier to greet customers, assist with questions, and process transactions with accuracy and care.

You will support the pharmacy team, maintain confidentiality of patient information, and help ensure a friendly, efficient experience for patients of all ages and backgrounds. This role requires attention to detail, ability to multitask, and willingness to adapt to a busy front-end environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to calculate basic math.
• Customer service experience in pharmacy setting preferred.
• Flexible schedule with early and/or late shifts.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers by providing friendly and professional experience.
• Operate cash register, process transactions, and count cash.
• Use pharmacy computer systems to check prescription status, bagging and hanging up prescriptions.
• Answer the telephone and take accurate messages when the pharmacist is unavailable.
• Balance the cash drawer each morning and afternoon.
• Collect the correct fees from patients at the time of visit.
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
• Keep the pharmacy clean, stocked, and organized.
• Maintain filing records daily and complete end of day reports.
• Verify patient and prescription information before selling medications.
• Maintain confidentiality per laws, regulations, SEMRHI policies, and PHI requirements.
• Respect customer privacy, dignity, and cultural beliefs in all interactions.
• Maintain composure under pressure while addressing customer issues.
• Escalate complex issues to the Pharmacist when needed.
• Carry out site maintenance and IT/security trainings as required.
