Overview

This position will be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

Texas Oncology is looking for a Pharmacy/Admixture Technician to join our team! This position will support the Dallas, TX location. The role level (1, 2, or Sr) will depend on the candidate's experience.

Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country, with approximately 600+ providers across 220+ sites in Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. What does the Pharmacy/Admixture Tech do?

Under supervision, the Tech performs medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control, with verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist. Tasks adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program and state laws regarding compounding and mixing responsibilities.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with medication preparation, including compounding or admixing medications.
  • Verify orders for completeness and proper authorization.
  • Admix drugs accurately and timely, following safety guidelines.
  • Calculate dosages and convert units as needed.
  • Maintain controlled substance records per regulations.
  • Properly dispose of materials, clean equipment, and perform quality assurance activities.
  • Manage inventory, including documentation of lot numbers and expiration dates.
  • Support medication use processes such as labeling, documentation, and ordering supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and compliance in the admixture area.
Qualifications

Level 1: High School diploma or equivalent; 0-3 years pharmacy experience.

Level 2: 3-5 years pharmacy experience with IV skills; IV certification preferred; Pharmacy Tech certification recommended.

Level Sr: 5-7 years pharmacy experience with IV skills; Oncology background or extensive IV prep preferred; ASCP or community college program completion recommended.

Physical Demands
