Job summary

ARS Treatment Centers in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a part-time Pharmacist to dispense take-home medications and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. The pharmacist will work under the Director of Medical Services to manage take-home orders and perform routine narcotic inventories.

You must be licensed as a Virginia Pharmacist and understand addiction treatment protocols. Strong attention to regulatory details and patient safety are essential.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited pharmacy program.
  • License from the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Pharmacist.
  • Understanding of drug addiction and methadone.
  • Successful completion of state required background checks and trainings (e.g. CPR and First Aid).
  • Completion of Human Rights and Behavioral intervention training.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate dispensing of medication to be consumed outside the clinic.
  • Pours take-home doses in accordance with all laws and regulations.
  • Performs inventory reconciliations at shift end.
  • Assist Nurse Director with narcotic inventories as required by DEA and Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
  • Review and report regulatory concerns related to medication room procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with State Licensure Standards, CARF, 42 CFR and HIPAA.

Position Description

The Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring accurate dispensing of medication to be consumed outside of the clinic. The Pharmacist will adhere to the vision and mission of the Company.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • With the assistance of the Director of Medical Services, identifies all patients with Physician Orders for take home medication.
  • Using approved take home containers and the Methasoft Dispensing System; pours take home doses for each patient in accordance with all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations governing the dispensing of methadone.
  • Performs inventory reconciliations at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Assists Director of Nursing in completing regular full narcotic physical inventories as required by DEA and Virginia Department of Pharmacy.
  • Reviews Medication Room procedures and reports any regulatory concerns to leadership.
  • Be proficient with State Licensure Standards, CARF Standards, 42 CFR and HIPAA standards and Company policies.
