Job summary

Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI) is seeking an Outpatient Retail Oncology Pharmacist to lead our outpatient pharmacy as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This role blends patient care, operations, and team leadership in a specialized oncology setting to ensure timely access to medications and personalized education for patients.

The ideal candidate has a PharmD with Oklahoma licensure, clinical oncology experience, and strong collaboration skills to work with physicians,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required; PharmD preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Oklahoma Pharmacist license required.
  • Retail, specialty, ambulatory, or oncology pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with oncology medications, IV admixture, and/or cleanroom compounding highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the outpatient retail pharmacy.

Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute (OCSRI) is seeking a motivated Outpatient Retail Oncology Pharmacist to lead our outpatient retail pharmacy and serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC). This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist who enjoys combining patient care, pharmacy operations, team leadership, and medication access within a specialized oncology environment.

As an integral member of our multidisciplinary cancer care team, the Outpatient Retail Oncology Pharmacist will help ensure our patients receive timely access to their medications, personalized education and counseling, and exceptional pharmacy services throughout their treatment journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and oversee the daily operations of the OCSRI outpatient retail pharmacy.
  • Provide safe, accurate, and timely dispensing of prescription medications while ensuring compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive medication counseling and education to patients, caregivers, and clinical staff.
  • Lead and support pharmacy technicians, including daily workflow, staffing, training, and operational oversight.
  • Partner with providers, nurses, pharmacy staff, and other members of the care team to resolve medication-related concerns and support continuity of care.
  • Assist patients and the care team with medication access, including identifying opportunities to reduce barriers to treatment.
  • Monitor medication purchasing and utilization, with particular attention to high-cost medications, to identify appropriate cost-saving opportunities, rebates, and purchasing strategies.
  • Support inventory management and efficient pharmacy operations while maintaining appropriate medication availability.
  • Review clinical literature and apply evidence-based information to pharmacy and patient-care practices.
  • Provide cross-coverage for the Outpatient Oncology Clinical Pharmacist as needed.
  • Support and adhere to the OCSRI Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required; Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), pharmacy residency, or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Current and unrestricted Oklahoma Pharmacist license required.
  • Previous retail, specialty, ambulatory, or oncology pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with oncology medications, IV admixture preparation, and/or cleanroom compounding highly desired.
  • Ability to evaluate clinical literature and appropriately apply evidence-based information to patient care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organization, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Collaborative, patient-focused approach with the ability to work effectively with a diverse multidisciplinary team.
