Job Summary and Qualifications

In conjunction with or in the absence of the Director of Pharmacy, this position will provide structure, guidance, accountability, and financial viability for customers (patients, physicians, employees, visitors, and investors) who receive pharmacy services in a professional and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
  • Directs, supervises, and coordinates the activities of the Pharmacy Department in the compounding and dispensing of medications and intravenous solutions, using standard physical and chemical procedures to fill written medication orders and prescription requests issued by approved medical staff physicians or qualified prescribers.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day operation of the department. Schedules and assigns areas of responsibility to the pharmacy staff and supervises the prompt and correct completion of assigned duties.
  • Assists, coordinates, and supervises staff pharmacists and technicians in the performance of their duties.
  • Performs distributive functions of the department with staff pharmacists and technicians.
  • Consults with nursing and ancillary department directors, managers, and coordinators.
  • Ensures the competence of pharmacists and technicians are obtained.
  • Initiates and evaluates programs to be implemented by Pharmacy Services as they pertain to the general operation of the department.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of Policies and Procedures.
  • Assists in the integration of clinical services with the distributive functions of the department.
  • Capable of assisting in Acudose/Robotic/Meditech maintenance and upgrades.
  • Performs quality monitoring functions as requested.
  • Promotes positive customer service with internal and external customers.
  • Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.
