The pharmacist works closely with prescribers, clinic staff, pharmacy technicians, payers, and patient assistance programs to improve medication access, adherence, and clinical outcomes. The pharmacist also supports the covered entity's compliance with the 340B Drug Pricing Program by following established eligibility, dispensing, purchasing, inventory, documentation, and oversight requirements.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with federal and state pharmacy laws, clinical standards, payer requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Provide comprehensive medication counseling related to dosing, adherence, side effects, drug interactions, storage requirements, and missed-dose instructions.
  • Support patients receiving hepatitis therapies and other complex or high-cost medications.
  • Collaborate with prescribers and clinical staff to resolve medication-related issues, clarify prescriptions, identify therapeutic concerns, and coordinate patient care.

340B Compliance Responsibilities
  • Follow the covered entity's approved 340B policies and procedures and complete required 340B compliance education and training.
  • Confirm that prescriptions designated as 340B eligible meet the covered entity's patient eligibility, prescriber, location, service, and grant-scope requirements.
  • Support controls designed to prevent diversion of 340B drugs to ineligible patients or for services outside the covered entity's authorized scope.
  • Ensure prescriptions are processed through the appropriate 340B, wholesale acquisition cost, group purchasing organization, or other authorized purchasing account.
  • Support accurate virtual inventory, replenishment, accumulation, ordering, receiving, and reconciliation processes.
  • Maintain auditable records supporting prescription eligibility, dispensing, purchasing, inventory movement, reversals, returns, and replenishment.
  • Review claim reversals, rebills, transfers, partial fills, inventory adjustments, and other exceptions that may affect 340B eligibility or replenishment accuracy.
  • Promptly report potential diversion, duplicate discounts, purchasing irregularities, documentation deficiencies, or other compliance concerns to pharmacy leadership and the designated 340B compliance contact.
  • Cooperate with internal reviews, independent contract pharmacy audits, HRSA audits, manufacturer inquiries, corrective action plans, and repayment activities when applicable.
  • Assist with monitoring pharmacy system configurations, billing identifiers, prescriber records, eligible locations, Medicaid requirements, and third-party administrator rules.
  • Protect confidential patient, prescription, financial, and 340B program information in accordance with HIPAA, contractual obligations, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of FL where the pharmacy operates.
