Valley Vital Care is seeking an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead clinical quality and regulatory compliance at our infusion therapy site in Virginia. This hands-on leadership role focuses on medication safety, sterile compounding, and team competency within a growing multi-site organization.

The PIC will serve as the clinical leader, ensuring safe pharmacy practice, adherence to USP <797> and <800>, DEA regulations, and payer requirements, while mentoring pharmacists and technicians daily.

Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing.
  • PIC designation/registration as required by the applicable state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience in pharmacy practice with strong knowledge of medication safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with sterile compounding and familiarity with USP <797> and <800>.
  • Strong understanding of pharmacy compliance, quality, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced clinical environment.

  • Oversee sterile compounding practices, including environment, garbing, technique, documentation, testing, and quality standards.
  • Maintain continuous audit and survey readiness and ensure identified findings are addressed within established timelines.
  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for nurses, prescribers, referral sources, and patients regarding infusion therapy.
  • Verify medication orders, compounded preparations, and clinical appropriateness.

Valley Vital Care is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead pharmacy practice and clinical quality at one of our growing infusion therapy locations.

This is a hands-on clinical leadership opportunity for a pharmacist who is ready to take ownership of medication safety, regulatory compliance, sterile compounding, clinical quality, and team competency within a growing multi-site infusion organization.

As the PIC, you will serve as the clinical leader for the site, ensuring pharmacy practice is safe, compliant, consistent, and aligned with Valley Vital Care's enterprise standards.

What You'll Do
Clinical Practice & Regulatory Compliance
  • Serve as the site Pharmacist in Charge and maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy requirements, DEA regulations, USP <797> and <800>, payer requirements, and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure consistent execution of Valley Vital Care's pharmacy policies, procedures, and clinical standards.
  • Oversee sterile compounding practices, including environment, garbing, technique, documentation, testing, and quality standards.
  • Maintain continuous audit and survey readiness and ensure identified findings are addressed within established timelines.
  • Serve as the primary clinical resource for nurses, prescribers, referral sources, and patients regarding infusion therapy.

Medication Safety & Quality
  • Lead medication-safety practices at the site, including error and adverse-event reporting, review, and corrective action.
  • Monitor clinical quality metrics and develop action plans to improve outcomes.
  • Identify and elevate systemic clinical or compliance concerns to the Director of Pharmacy.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, coordinate, and support the clinical development of site pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Ensure team members complete required competency validations on the established schedule.
  • Onboard new pharmacists and technicians to Valley Vital Care's clinical and pharmacy standards.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical guidance and serve as a resource for the pharmacy team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on patient safety, quality, and exceptional care.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, coordinate, and support the clinical development of site pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Ensure team members complete required competency validations on the established schedule.
  • Onboard new pharmacists and technicians to Valley Vital Care's clinical and pharmacy standards.
  • Provide day-to-day clinical guidance and serve as a resource for the pharmacy team.
  • Foster a collaborative environment focused on patient safety, quality, and exceptional care.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Clinical Operations Manager (COM) as part of the site's leadership dyad.
  • Collaborate with Nursing, Intake, Revenue Cycle, and other departments to support clean clinical handoffs and payer readiness.
  • Partner with access and operational teams to ensure clinical standards are maintained throughout the patient journey.
  • Help identify and resolve barriers that impact safe, efficient patient care.
Your First 30 Days

Within your first 30 days, you will complete a Site Practice Snapshot for the Director of Pharmacy. This assessment will provide an overview of:

  • Current compliance and medication-safety practices
  • Adherence to enterprise pharmacy standards
  • Team competency and training status
  • Key clinical and operational friction points
  • Recommended stabilization and improvement priorities for days 30–90

This deliverable is designed to help you understand your site, identify opportunities, and establish a clear path forward.

Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Infusion pharmacy experience.
  • Previous Pharmacist-in-Charge, Pharmacy Manager, or pharmacy leadership experience.
  • Experience working in a multi-site healthcare or specialty pharmacy environment.
  • Experience with biologics, specialty medications, or complex infusion therapies.
