Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Pharmacist in Charge for the outpatient pharmacy. This full-time, day-shift leadership role oversees medication orders, staff training, and system initiatives to ensure patient safety and quality care.

You will precept students, serve as site lead on specialized operations, and mentor staff while maintaining licensure and BLS compliance within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy is required.
• Active Virginia Pharmacist License is required.
• Minimum 3 years of pharmacist experience.

Responsibilities

• Ensures appropriateness of all provider medication orders for patient safety.
• Participates in training of new employees and development of training materials.
• Maintains quality assurance per department and legal requirements.
• Precepts pharmacy students/residents in oversight of practice area.
• Leads implementation of system initiatives at local and system levels.
• Acts as a site lead for specialized pharmacy operations (e.g., compounding, drug diversion, quality, safety).
• Provides operational guidance to staff on pharmacy practice issues.
• May assume pharmacist-in-charge duties as needed.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
