BHI helps connect all three to allow doctors to extend care beyond the provider's staff to centralize management for greater efficiency and patients are able to receive TDD right in their own home - with experienced nurses.

We are seeking a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead and oversee sterile compounding operations at our compounding pharmacy. The PIC will be responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, USP <797> and other applicable standards, while maintaining the highest level of patient safety and product quality.

Experience with IV therapy and infusion pharmacy services is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary contact with state boards of pharmacy, FDA (if applicable), and other regulatory bodies.
• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local laws governing pharmacy practice and sterile compounding.
• Maintain current knowledge of USP <797>, <800>, and <795> standards and implement changes as needed.
• Prepare for and lead inspections and audits (e.g. State Board, FDA, NABP, accreditation bodies).

Operational Oversight

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the sterile compounding pharmacy, ensuring safe and efficient workflows.
• Oversee compounding processes including aseptic technique, environmental monitoring, cleaning protocols, and batch documentation.
• Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control programs.
• Ensure safe and compliant preparation of IV therapies and infusion products, including TPNs, pain management, antibiotics, biologics, and chemotherapy.

Staff Management

• Train, supervise, and evaluate pharmacy staff including pharmacists, technicians, and support personnel.
• Conduct regular competency assessments and aseptic technique validations.
• Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Inventory & Equipment Management

• Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of all pharmaceuticals and hazardous drugs.
• Monitor and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Ensure calibration, validation, and maintenance of cleanroom equipment (e.g. LAFWs, BSCs, isolators, autoclaves).

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain complete and accurate records of compounding activities, cleaning logs, environmental monitoring, and personnel training.
• Investigate deviations, out-of-specification (OOS) results, and adverse events, implementing CAPAs when necessary.
• Provide reports and updates to ownership/upper management as required.
• Ensure accurate and timely preparation and dispensing of compounded sterile preparations (CSPs).
• Collaborate with prescribers & nurses.
• Address and resolve complaints, medication errors, or service issues.

Qualifications

• Education: Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) from an accredited school.
• Licensure: Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of New Jersey. Must meet PIC eligibility requirements under state law.
• Must be licensed in: California, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Ohio, Arkansas, Michigan, Illinois.
• Must be willing to obtain additional state licensure as required.

Experience

• Minimum 4 years of experience in sterile compounding pharmacy.
• At least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Required: Hands-on experience with IV therapy or infusion pharmacy (home infusion, TPNs, antimicrobials, etc.).

Certifications: Sterile compounding training and competency per USP <797>.
