SALARY

$30.98 - $34.86 (Hourly) plus a shortage differential based on the FTE.

JOB DUTIES

This is a regional position located in the Pharmacy department of the Hawai'i Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) Kaua'i Region, which serves Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital (KVMH) and Samuel Mahelona Memorial Hospital (SMMH). The Pharmacy department ensures the safe and effective use of medications for inpatients and provides clinical services such as medication therapy management and patient counseling.

As a Pharmacist, your primary responsibilities include reviewing and interpreting medication orders, collaborating with healthcare teams to tailor treatment plans, performing medication therapy management, providing patient counseling, monitoring for drug interactions, and performing all other duties as assigned. The role may require weekend, holiday, or vacation coverage and occasional travel within the region.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a baccalaureate or Pharm.D degree in pharmacy.
  • License: A valid license with the State of Hawai'i as a Pharmacist at the time of appointment; a valid State of Hawai'i type #3 driver’s license is preferred.
  • Professional Pharmacist Experience:
    • Pharmacist I: Six (6) months
    • Pharmacist II: One (1) year
  • Supervisory Aptitude: Demonstrated potential for supervisory duties through experience, training, or positive appraisals.
  • Quality of Experience: Overall experience must demonstrate scope and responsibility required for the position.
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Pharmacist I:
    • Knowledge of pharmacy principles, sciences (pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, etc.), and compounding techniques.
    • Ability to apply this knowledge to prescription interpretation, record keeping, and relationship building with medical and administrative staff.
  • Pharmacist II:
    • Advanced knowledge of pharmacy principles, supervision, and compounding.
    • Ability to plan, organize, operate a pharmacy, maintain inventory, prepare reports, and supervise subordinates, while establishing relationships with external stakeholders.
