Job summary

BCP Veterinary Pharmacy, located in Midtown Houston, seeks a licensed pharmacist to join a full-time daytime team. You will input prescriptions, provide drug information, and supervise technicians in a fast-paced pharmaco-technical environment for animal care.

Role requires TX pharmacist registration, strong communication, and accuracy in compounding and record-keeping. The facility offers a casual setting, with benefits including 401(k), health and life insurance, and paid holidays.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls from veterinarians and pet owners.
• Input new prescriptions into the pharmacy software system.
• Provide drug information to hospitals, veterinarians, and pet owners.
• Supervise technicians and manage workflow.
• Perform drug calculations and maintain accurate records.
• Check drugs before Rx is compounded for accuracy.
• Check completed prescriptions for accuracy.
• Manage inventory and ensure timely processing of orders.

Job description

BCP Veterinary Pharmacy has been compounding prescription medications for animals since 1994. We have both local customers and a robust nationwide shipping program. We provide on-the-job training for the veterinary-specific aspects and compounding protocols. We compound both nonsterile and sterile products, both hazardous and nonhazardous. Our facility is centrally located in Midtown Houston with a company parking lot. We have a casual work environment (no uniforms or scrubs required) and welcome all religions, genders, ethnicities, ages, and sexual orientations.

This is a salaried position, full-time, daytime, Monday through Friday, with a one hour lunchbreak.

Required hours are 9am to 6pm Weekdays. NO NIGHTS! NO WEEKENDS! Occasionally a shift is available 8:30am-5:30pm.

DUTIES (not all-inclusive):

• Answer incoming calls from veterinarians and pet owners
• Take new prescriptions and input all necessary information into the pharmacy software system
• Provide drug information to hospitals, veterinarians, and pet owners

REQUIREMENTS

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a teamwork attitude; Experience managing personnel is beneficial

Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and able to pivot on task priorities

Must be registered as a Pharmacist with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy with no history of disciplinary action; Registration in additional states is highly beneficial
