At Children’s Mercy, we believe in making a difference in the lives of all children and shining a light of hope to the patients and families we serve. Our employees make the difference, which is why we have been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as a top pediatric hospital, for eleven consecutive years.

Children’s Mercy is in the heart of Kansas City – a metro abounding in cultural experiences, vibrant communities and thriving businesses. This is where our patients and families live, work and play. This is a community that has embraced our hospital and we strive to say thanks by giving back. As a leader in children’s health, we engage in meaningful programs and partnerships throughout the region so that we can improve the lives of children beyond the walls of our hospital.

Overview

The Pharmacist Educator improves, oversees, and streamlines the educational needs of the department, ensuring successful implementation and sustainability of pharmacy services. The Educator works as an integral member of the pharmacy leadership team to oversee various departmental curriculum including, but not limited to, pharmacy technologies and clinical pharmacy services. The Educator serves as a content expert for information systems utilized by pharmacists and assesses training needs for software used by clinical pharmacists and specialists. Role may allow for remote work based on department needs and supervisor discretion.

At Children’s Mercy, we are committed to ensuring everyone feels welcomed within our walls. A successful candidate for this position will join us as we strive to create a workplace that reflects the community we serve, as well as our core values of kindness, curiosity, inclusion, teamwork, and integrity.

Additionally, it’s important to us that we remain transparent with all potential job candidates. Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve, as well as our staff, we want to inform you that the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), chicken pox (varicella), and/or without evidence of Tdap vaccination since 2005. If selected, you will be asked to provide immunization records. Medical or religious exemptions can be discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to patient safety and quality improvement. Manages educational responsibilities for high-risk pharmacy processes requiring standardized training. Supports the implementation of complex interdisciplinary medication processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm.D. or B.S.) with 3-5 years of experience; includes 1 year residency and one year working experience, or 2-year residency with management emphasis as a substitute.
  • Licensed Pharmacist in Missouri (MO), with a requirement to obtain licensure within 90 days if not already licensed.
  • Epic Credentialed Trainer Certification required within 180 days.
