Job description

UPMC Presbyterian Campus is looking for a limited part-time Pharmacist who can leverage their expertise and passion for collaboration with healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes and deliver life-changing medicine daily. This role is perfect for someone with strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills and is committed to quality, safety, and excellence in pharmacy services. This position will work daylight hours every third weekend.

Purpose:
Ensure cost-effective pharmacotherapy contributes to optimal patient outcomes, provide experiential education for present and future healthcare practitioners, and support drug-related research.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, maintain, and screen patient medication records and profiles for allergies, drug interactions, and therapeutic duplications while entering orders and/or verifying medications.
  • Identify and report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders to prepare, calculate, and dispense appropriate medication dosage forms for inpatient and outpatient treatment in accordance with the Practicing State's Pharmacy Practice Act, Federal Drug Laws, and other regulatory organizations.
  • Prepare and dispense intravenous admixture solutions, as required, using aseptic technique in an accepted sterile product preparation area.
  • Organize daily operational duties and assist in the supervision of pharmacy technicians, pharmacy aides, student interns, and other ancillary personnel involved in providing pharmaceutical care.
  • Fill prescription orders in accordance with State and Federal regulations, utilizing technological resources and equipment.
  • Provide drug information and/or educational programs to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.
