Job summary

Randolph Health is offering a sign-on bonus of $16,000 to eligible Pharmacist new hires!

Job Overview

The clinical pharmacist will be responsible for providing clinical and dispensing pharmacy services to patients receiving care in Randolph Hospital inpatient and outpatient care areas. The pharmacist will perform all functions in accordance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accrediting agency requirements, hospital policies, and pharmacy practice standards.

Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a PharmD degree preferred; Bachelor of Science degree with a minimum of five years of clinical experience will be considered.
  • Current license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of fifteen hours of continuing education annually from an approved provider.
  • Completion of all mandatory Randolph Hospital continuing education programs.
  • Understanding of composition, properties, pharmacological actions, and clinical effects of pharmaceutical products and delivery systems.
  • Ability to obtain, assess, and interpret patient- and medication-specific data and use that information to optimize medication therapy.
  • Knowledge of principles of physiology, growth, and development over the human life span and their impact on medication efficacy and safety.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical compounding, dispensing, and documentation.
  • Effective communication with healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers.
  • Ability to evaluate and interpret prescriptions, determine optimal administration parameters, and prepare, label, and dispense medications.
  • Proficiency in Meditech Health Information System and pharmacy automated systems (Meditech, MedSelect, Centrack, Pyxis Scanner, QS1).
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and coordinate pharmacy workflow.
  • Experience supervising pharmacy technicians and verifying their work product.
  • Previous hospital experience preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical and dispensing pharmacy services to patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Develop optimal medication regimens and provide accurate risk/benefit assessments of medication therapies.
  • Recognize and initiate risk minimization practices, monitor therapeutic and toxic effects, and provide therapy recommendations to ensure patient safety.
  • Provide appropriate medication therapy and delivery methods for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients served by Randolph Hospital.
  • Accurately and safely complete all aspects of pharmaceutical compounding, dispensing, and documentation.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals, patients, and caregivers to provide accurate and timely medication information.
  • Operate pharmacy automated systems, provide initial evaluation and response in case of malfunction, and implement backup procedures in case of system failure.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities and coordinate pharmacy workflow, functioning as the sole pharmacist on duty when necessary.
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and verify their work product.
