Lifepoint Health's TGH Behavioral Health Hospital in Tampa, FL is hiring a Pharmacist for a full-time day shift. You will fill orders, review patient profiles for safety, prevent interactions, and support staff with drug information and education.

Top priorities include accurate medication preparation, timely handling of urgent orders, and collaboration with hospital teams to ensure optimal patient care. A state license is required and ongoing professional development is encouraged.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with Pharmacist degree.
  • Current state license in good standing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication with staff and patients.
  • Basic computer skills for processing prescription orders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to organize meetings and inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Fills orders with correct medication and ensures accuracy before release.
  • Prioritizes STAT, Now and Waiting orders by urgency.
  • Reviews patient profiles to ensure safe, appropriate therapy.
  • Prevents drug interactions and adverse reactions.
  • Maintains drug information and provides staff education.
  • Directs activities of pharmacy personnel when needed.
  • Assists technicians and ensures proper temperature/environmental logs.

Schedule: Full Time, Monday-Friday 7:00 am- 3:30 pm

How You'll Contribute
  • Fills orders with correct medication. Checks support staff accuracy prior to medication release.
  • Prioritizes work to prepare STAT, Now and Waiting in order of importance.
  • Reviews patient profile to ensure appropriate and safe drug therapy. No therapeutic duplication. P
  • Prevents significant drug interaction.
  • Prevents avoidable ADR secondary to allergies. Medication ordered is appropriate for patient height, weight, age, renal function disease state, laboratory and other data.
  • Must be have knowledge of patient population served.
  • Participates in the maintenance and dissemination of drug information through in‑service education of hospital personnel, consultation with patients, hospital and Medical staff.
  • Actively assists other Pharmacists and Technicians in the discharge of routine duties as necessary. Directs activities of and provides professional and technical guidance to Pharmacy personnel.
  • Prepares unit of use dosage when possible.
  • Keeps Director informed of workload status and potential problems.
  • Is competent in the range of treatment needed by the following patients as appropriate to the ages served by the hospital: Pediatric, Adult and Geriatric.
  • Capable of entering a minimum of 40 orders per four hour shift.
  • Generates required reports and Performs Backup Procedures correctly.
  • Assists Technicians in performing technical tasks.
  • Ensures temperature and environmental monitoring logs are maintained appropriately.
  • Keeps current on new drugs.
  • Serves as on‑call pharmacist as scheduled and able to return to the hospital on scheduled days for urgent situations.
  • Maintains security of Pharmacy. Maintains security of controlled substances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with Pharmacist degree.
  • Current state license in good standing
  • The ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with medical and administrative staffs as well as patients and families in an assertive, professional manner.
  • Basic understanding of the role and use of a computer in the processing of prescription orders with minimum word processing skills.
  • Self motivated, self directed with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize meetings and inspections.
