PHARMACIST (Closed Door)

Overview

The Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication as required to meet the needs of a long-term/post-acute care pharmacy. The Pharmacist must adhere to the company's quality and customer service standards, policies, and procedures, as well as the State and Federal guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Verification for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders. Check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling including emergency drug kits and IV medications.
  • Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies)
  • Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs
  • Work with appropriate pharmacy technician in reconciling Controlled Substances perpetual inventory as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
  • Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team, and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record
  • Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management
  • Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
  • Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
  • Responsible for the flow of work and appropriate outcomes

Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacist license active and in good standing in the state of practice
  • Management experience preferred
  • Bachelors degree or Pharmacy Doctorate from an accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Perform accurately and efficiently when dispensing prescription medications
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evening, weekends, and holidays
  • Experience using FrameworkLTC
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook
  • Minimum of two (2) years recent experience in an acute-care setting or one (1) year experience as a production pharmacist preferred (not required). Experience and knowledge base of intravenous admixtures services and intravenous therapy desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well-developed verbal and written communication skills with English as the primary language.
  • Ability to work independently as well as working in a team environment, meets deadlines, establish priorities, and be flexible, work under pressure with multiple tasks. Must have strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills, ability to problem-solve.
  • This position must exhibit maturity in judgment, will work under the Pharmacy Manager.

  • May sit or stand seven (7) to ten (10) hours per day.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, walk, crawl intermittently.
  • May be necessary to work extended hours as needed.
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this role.

HOLIDAY & PTO POLICY

  • Paid holidays are provided annually, with 6 days offered each year, along with 5 sick days.
  • Employees earn up to 10 PTO days each year, with rollover options and milestone bonuses.
  • Employees have the option to cash out up to 10 PTO hours each quarter for added financial flexibility.

Please note, because we are a pharmacy most of our locations are open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and therefore schedules may change as determined by the needs of the business.
