Job Duties
  • The Pharmacist will provide pharmaceutical services for OneWorld Pharmacy for underserved patients. The Pharmacist will dispense prescription medications to patients and offer expertise in the safe use of both prescription and over-the-counter medications. They provide counseling on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, conduct health screenings, and oversee the medications dispensed to patients. The Pharmacist will provide integrated, accessible healthcare services to a community-based clinic involved in the direct care of a diverse patient population. The Pharmacist will be accountable for addressing medication needs and developing a sustained partnership with patients and members of the healthcare team, which includes clinicians and local pharmacies. This is accomplished through direct patient care, medication management, coordination of care, patient advocacy, wellness, health promotion, triage and referral, and patient education and self-management. The Pharmacist will work in collaboration with healthcare providers and patients to provide quality healthcare and affordable medication options.
  • Adhere to the department and corporate compliance with regard to Fraud Waste and Abuse, HIPAA, OSHA safety, and other state and federal regulations.
  • Complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the Food and Drug Administration.
  • The Pharmacist will assist with oversight of formulary development and inventory management.
  • Assist in maintaining an appropriate inventory of pharmaceutical medications, supplies, over-the-counter medications, special orders, and requests from patients and providers.
  • Dispense drugs prescribed by healthcare providers and provide drug information to patients regarding medication side effects, potential drug interactions, and use.
  • Perform prospective and retrospective drug utilization reviews for each patient profile when dispensing.
  • Educate patients on the proper handling of medical devices, including but not limited to blood pressure monitors, glucose meter syringes, and compression wear.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy with a valid Nebraska State Pharmacist License in good standing; required.
  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • Maintain all credentialing and continuing education hours as required by the Nebraska Board of Pharmacy; required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in computer operations and software packages with intermediate-level skills in keyboarding, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Internet Explorer; required.
  • Strong math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with analytical problem-solving experience and trouble-shooting/follow-up skills; required.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of government programs and sensitivity to the needs of the low-income population and medically underserved.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in a coordinating role.
  • Awareness of community resources, state and local networks, and community-wide perspective to problem identification and resolution.
