Job summary

Meds.com in Elmhurst, IL is seeking a licensed Pharmacist to lead a busy pharmacy team. You will supervise technicians, review prescriptions, and ensure accurate compounding and dispensing for in-state and out-of-state orders.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, regulatory compliance (USP 795/797/800), and mentoring a 20–30 technician crew daily. On-site work with competitive compensation, full medical benefits, and lunch provided.

Qualifications

  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited school.
  • Licensed pharmacist in good standing in IL; multi-state licensure desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on pharmacy experience.
  • Ability to supervise QA and Compliance during inspections.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and work with hazardous materials.
  • Hands-on experience with non-sterile compounding preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficient with dosage calculations and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of USP standards <795>, <797>, and <800>.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise compounding performed by Pharmacy Technicians to ensure adherence to policies and law.
  • Review prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers.
  • Oversee compounding and dispensing of prescribed medications for patient care.
  • Cooperatively manage chemical inventory and assess ingredients for identity, purity, and strength.
  • Provide telephonic consultations to patients and customers on interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage.
  • Supervise maintenance and cleaning of the compounding environment and tools.
  • Report out-of-spec observations and modifications to Quality/Compliance.
  • Train compounding staff on techniques and procedures.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring (temperatures, incubator checks).
  • Pursue licensure in other states and maintain good standing for non-resident licenses.
  • Ensure compliance with USP <795>, <797>, <800> standards.

The Pharmacistis responsible forreceiving,reviewingand interpretingphysician'sorders, dispensing medication topatientsand cooperatively managing a team of Pharmacy Technicians alongside other Pharmacists.

Work is in a fast-paced environment primarily focused on compounding solid oral dose tablets and fulfilling orders for both in and out-of-state orders.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader seeking an environment thatleveragestechnology and machinery, in addition to training and managing a team of 20-30+ technicians on any given day.Previouscompounding experience is a major plus.

Pharmacists’ schedules are currently staggered to provide coverage Mon-Fri7am-5pmandSaturdays8am-4pm.Sundays are currently OFF. While the schedule is subject to change for this growing company, the company believes in proper work life balance and has successfully recruited pharmacists who are looking for a change in environments from retail pharmacy.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise compounding performed by Pharmacy Technicians to ensure that these activities are in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable state and federal law
  • Review prescriptions issued by authorized prescribers
  • Oversee compounding procedures and dispensing of prescribed medications for patient care
  • Cooperatively manage chemical inventory and assess ingredients to determine identity, purity, and strength alongside fellow team members
  • Provide consultation (primarily telephonic) to patients and customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and medication storage
  • Supervise the maintenance and cleaning of the compounding environment, equipment, and tools
  • Report out-of-specification observations, deviations, and modifications to the Quality Control/Compliance Officer
  • Train other compounding pharmacy personnel on technique and procedures
  • Conduct or supervise environmental monitoring (e.g.recording temperatures, checking incubator samples, as applicable)
  • Actively pursue personal licenses in other states and remain ingood-standingwith the licensed states for non-resident pharmacylicense.
  • Ensures compliance with and remains current on USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or Doctorof Pharmacy degree from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Registered Pharmacist in good standing with each state of practice.
  • Minimally licensed in Illinois. Additionally, it would be desirable if you are licensed innumerousother states or otherwise capable of passing exams in an expedient manner.
  • Atleast 5 years of hands-on pharmacy experiencedesired.
  • Ability to take point and assista capable QA and Compliance team when inspections arise.
  • Must be able to wear respiratorand work with hazardous materials.
  • Hands-on experience with non-sterile compounding preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communication across all stakeholders regardless of title or position.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculation, formulation of pharmaceuticalpreparationsand data analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect, analyze data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, including patient documentation systems.
  • Creative, innovative, and entrepreneurial traits are a plus.
  • Positive attitude and a teamplayer.
