Job summary

Citizens Health is seeking a full-time inpatient pharmacist for the Colby, KS campus. The role involves providing sterile and non-sterile compounding, verifying medications, and collaborating with hospital staff to ensure optimal patient care. Work hours are rotating; on-call every 3rd week; salary is commensurate with experience.

The successful candidate will hold a Kansas pharmacist license, have passed NAPLEX/MPJE, and be experienced in hospital pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Active Kansas Pharmacist license required.
  • Must have passed NAPLEX and MPJE.
  • Experience with hospital pharmacy operations and sterile/non-sterile compounding.

Responsibilities

  • Provide inpatient pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective medication use for hospitalized patients.
  • Prepare, dispense and verify medications following hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and document patient medication records and participate in clinical and operational duties.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Respond to emergencies and support quality assurance activities.
  • Interpret and apply guidelines; communicate clearly with colleagues and patients.

Job description

Overview

Citizens Health is recruiting a full-time pharmacist to work in the inpatient pharmacy. Location: 1525 S Franklin, Colby, Kansas. Reports to the Pharmacy Manager.

Days and hours: Monday through Friday, rotating shifts 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm, with on-call every 3rd week. Pay range: salaried position, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities
  • Provide inpatient pharmaceutical services to ensure safe, effective medication use for hospitalized patients.
  • Prepare, dispense and verify medications following hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and document patient medication records and participate in clinical and operational duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Respond to emergencies and support quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Interpret and apply guidelines and procedures; communicate clearly with colleagues and patients.
Qualifications
  • Current State of Kansas Pharmacist license.
  • Proof of passing both NAPLEX and MPJE examinations.
  • Knowledge of hospital pharmaceuticals and applicable Kansas pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in sterile and non-sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous medications as governed by USP 797/800.
  • Ability to operate healthcare software systems and navigate patient charts.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public.
  • Ability to maintain quality control standards; react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures; communicate clearly.

Typical Working Conditions

Works in a well-lighted and well-ventilated area. Requires concentration, tolerance of interruptions, and good communication with hospital departments, patients and families. The list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.

Extended periods of standing and sitting as needed to perform duties; ability to lift 30+ pounds.
