Job summary

American Advanced Management seeks a Pharmacist for Per Diem coverage in Amarillo, TX. You will fill and dispense medication orders, ensure proper handling and storage of drugs, and support daily operations in the pharmacy.

You will serve as a drug information resource for patients and clinicians, participate in antibiotic stewardship, and provide pharmaceutical care across age groups with leadership in absence of the director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy required.
• Current, valid pharmacist license in Texas required.
• Experience with automated dispensing systems and EMR preferred.
• BLS and ACLS certifications from a facility-approved vendor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense medication orders accurately and safely.
• Serve as a drug information resource to patients and clinicians.
• Collaborate with medical staff to deliver quality, cost-effective therapies.
• Participate in Antibiotic Stewardship Program focused on patient safety.
• Provide pharmaceutical care for patients across age groups; lead in the Director's absence.

Job Details

Job Location: Amarillo, TX 79106, Position Type: Per Diem, Responsible for the filling and dispensing of medication orders, including the proper handling, usage and storage of drugs in the Pharmacy. Maintain standards set forth by the department and translate policies and procedures into daily operations. Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature. Provides a coordination effort, in conjunction with the medical staff and nursing, in the delivery of quality and cost-effective drug therapies to patients. Participates in the hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Program with a focus on patient safety and public health. Demonstrates a competency to provide pharmaceutical care to patients of all relevant age groups. Provides leadership in the absence of the Director as assigned.

Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science Degree from a College/School of Pharmacy required.
• Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Pharmacist in the state of employment required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
• Experience with pharmacokinetics and anticoagulation preferred. TPN experience preferred.
• Current, valid and active BLS and ACLS certifications from a facility-approved vendor preferred. Previous acute care experienced preferred.
• Automated pharmacy dispensing.
• IV Laminar flow hood.
• Electronic medical records experienced preferred. Ability to project a professional image.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSURES, REGISTRATIONS

• Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Pharmacist in the state of employment required. Current, valid and active BLS and ACLS certifications from a facility-approved vendor preferred.
