Job summary

The Drug Enforcement Administration seeks qualified candidates for Diversion Investigator roles, enforcing the Controlled Substances Act and the Chemical Diversion and Trafficking Act to prevent diversion while ensuring legitimate supply. You will work with a broad network of agencies to investigate and report findings that guide regulatory and criminal actions.

Positions require completion of trainings, background checks, and compliance with federal hiring procedures.

Qualifications

• GS-07 requires 1 year of specialized experience including gathering data to prepare reports, evaluating priorities, orally presenting information, collaborating with management, and completing tasks independently.
• GS-9 and above allow education substitutions (master's degree or 3 years of graduate education).
• GS-11 requires planning and organizing briefings, conducting investigations, researching reports, and advising management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations under CSA and CDTA to prevent diversion and ensure lawful supply.
• Collect, analyze information; conduct interviews; prepare reports; present findings for actions.
• Prepare written materials supporting potential administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings; handle inquiries.
• Develop and maintain relationships with federal, state, and local agencies for information exchange.
• Plan and participate in multi-jurisdictional programs addressing diversion and evaluate investigation results.
