Job summary

Incyte, headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, seeks an experienced Patent Agent with pharmaceutical industry expertise to manage US patent prosecution for its biotech products and technologies. You will draft and review patent applications and related documents while coordinating with the USPTO.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to protect pipeline assets, perform patent landscape analyses, and support strategic IP decisions in a fast-paced biopharma environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Patent Agent in good standing to practice before the USPTO.
• Ph.D. or Master’s in a related pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical field.
• 3+ years of in-house or private practice experience as a patent agent in pharma/biopharma.
• Proven track record in preparation, prosecution and management of US patents.
• Strong understanding of USPTO rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the preparation, filing, prosecution and maintenance of US patent applications and patents.
• Provide strategic guidance on filing patent applications with the USPTO and related IP issues.
• Assist in protecting assets by securing valid US patents.
• Support USPTO proceedings (IPR, post grant reviews, re-examinations, etc.).
• Design and execute prior art searches using specialized databases.
• Review literature and file wrappers related to US patent prosecution.
• Advise on US patent filings to protect company interests from publications.
• Produce patent status and docket reports.
• Coordinate with outside US patent counsel.
• Develop understanding of the business to provide guidance to internal clients.
• Engage with business units to promote in-house legal services.
