Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Pharmaceutical Microbiologist to join the quality control laboratory in Upington. You will perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products, while conducting environmental monitoring of cleanrooms and sterility testing of sterile products.

The role requires 3+ years in pharma/biotech microbiology, strong knowledge of GMP/GLP, and meticulous record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Pharmacy, or a related life science field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical or biotech microbiology laboratory.
• Proficiency in various microbiological techniques, including microbial enumeration, identification, and sterility testing.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring programs and cleanroom classifications.
• Familiarity with pharmaceutical GMP regulations and microbiological control strategies.
• Strong attention to detail, good record-keeping skills, and the ability to work independently in Upington.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished pharmaceutical products according to established methods and pharmacopoeial standards.
• Conduct environmental monitoring of manufacturing cleanrooms, including air sampling, surface sampling, and personnel monitoring.
• Perform sterility testing of sterile products and monitor growth promotion of microbiological media.
• Identify and characterize microbial isolates, conducting investigations into any contamination events.
• Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, documenting all testing procedures, results, and deviations.
• Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) , Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and relevant microbiological guidelines.
