Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, program, and develop PLC and SCADA applications for pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment in New Jersey. You will create specifications, sequences of operation, test protocols, and manuals, while configuring and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and databases.

The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on automation engineering, plus experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix/Studio 5000, and SCADA platforms (Wonderware/iFIX/Ignition).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years in automation engineering.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and RSLogix/Studio 5000.
• Experience with SCADA: Wonderware, iFIX, Ignition.
• Pharma, life sciences, or GMP-regulated environments.
• Ability to read P&IDs and electrical schematics.
• Knowledge of hardware sizing and instrumentation integration.
• Validation and commissioning experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and develop PLC and SCADA applications for pharmaceutical equipment.
• Create functional specs, sequences of operation, test protocols, user manuals, and automation docs.
• Configure and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, databases, and control hardware.
• Specify and purchase controls hardware and instrumentation.
• Review automation designs, P&IDs, wiring drawings, panel layouts, and control schematics.
• Execute software testing, simulations, commissioning, startup, and validation activities.
• Collaborate with project teams, manufacturing groups, customers, and field staff to deliver on schedule and budget.
• Provide customer training, technical support, troubleshooting, warranty support, and field service.
